Here are some criteria for selecting projects

A rigorous evaluation system designed to identify entrepreneurial initiatives that combine excellence and sustainable innovation within the Montreal ecosystem. Particularly, projects demonstrating a harmonious balance between commercial ambition and tangible social commitment to the Quebec community.


All financial projections and analyses must be presented in accordance with current Canadian accounting standards.



A jury committed to making your potential shine

The Amazing One selection committee is composed of professionals from diverse sectors such as entrepreneurship, the social economy, community development, education, and culture. This diversity of profiles allows for a rigorous and fair evaluation of projects based on predefined criteria. The committee is committed to supporting impactful initiatives, with particular attention paid to innovation, feasibility, and contribution to Montreal's Afro-descendant community. Committee members act in a spirit of kindness and transparency, with a focus on providing constructive feedback to each candidate.


To ensure the integrity of the process, members adhere to a rigorous ethical charter in accordance with Canadian standards and report any potential conflict of interest.


Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:


  1. Clarity and relevance of the project

    • Consistency between the idea, the objectives and the identified needs

    • Clear understanding of the target market

  2. Potential for social impact

    • Project's ability to generate a positive impact in the Afro-descendant community

    • Economic, social or cultural repercussions

  3. Project innovation

    • Innovative nature of the proposed idea or solution

    • Differentiator from what already exists

  4. Feasibility

    • Realism of the action plan and the means implemented

    • Financial and organizational viability

  5. Commitment and motivation

    • Involvement of the entrepreneur in the project

    • Long-term vision

  6. Pitch (oral presentation)

    • Ability to communicate your project well during selection interviews

    • Clarity, passion, structure of speech

  7. Sustainable criteria (bonus)

    • Integration of sustainable ecological or social elements into the project

    • Respect for ethical and inclusive principles

Ex: BLK & Beautiful is a luxury streetwear brand focused on accessories and eyewear. It aims to offer a bold and refined style, while promoting the Afro-urban aesthetic.

2. Objectives & Relevance

  • What need or problem does this project want to solve?

  • Why is this project important to you?

  • Who is it aimed at (customers, community)?

Ex: This project aims to fill the lack of representation of Afro-descendants in the luxury accessories industry by offering a brand inspired by our culture.

3. Impact on the Afro-descendant community

  • How does your project contribute to the development or empowerment of the community?

  • Social, cultural or economic repercussions?

Ex: BLK & Beautiful will create collaborations with young Black designers, offer inclusive visual campaigns and organize fashion mentorship events.

4. Innovative Character

  • What makes your idea original?

  • What did you imagine that was different or new?

Ex: The integration of augmented reality into our glasses to create a unique connected experience in high-end streetwear.

5. Feasibility & Action Plan

  • Where are you at? (idea, prototype, already in operation?)

  • What are the next steps?

  • What partners or resources do you already have?

Ex: Glasses prototype completed, first visuals created, social media testing begins. Next step: creation of the first mini-collection and online store.

6. Vision & Growth

  • Where do you want this project to be in 1 year? 3 years?

  • What are your long-term goals?

Ex: Within 3 years, BLK & Beautiful wants to be distributed in concept stores in Montreal, Toronto and Paris, with a team of creatives from the diaspora.

7. Financing requirements

Ex: The prize will be used to produce the first collection, create an e-commerce site and launch a targeted marketing campaign for the Afro-Montreal community.

Ex: I grew up without an entrepreneurial role model from my culture. Today, I want to be that role model, and this competition gives me the structure, the means, and the credibility to succeed.
